The Role and Department

Sport

Durham University is one of Europe’s leading sport universities and has been ranked in the top three team sport university’s since 2013. In 2019 the University completed the construction of a £32m Sports & Wellbeing Park, adding to a prior investment, on the same site, of £8m in 2012 making it the sporting facility in the north of England. This year as a result of the continued success both at a performance and participatory level the university was awarded the Times and Sunday Times Sports University of the Year.

Role

Primarily the Head Coach will lead and develop the men’s and women’s hockey programme, ensuring that the club is successful and maximizes its potential on and off the field of play. The post holder will be responsible for developing positive relationships with the performance support team, wider university support departments and lead the development of training programmes across the club. The post holder will support the implement of the strategy for recruiting the best men’s and women’s hockey players. The post hodler will also develop and maintain relationships with all the hockey specific national governing bodies (in particular England Hockey) and with British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS).
