About The Role
We’re now seeking a Lecturer on a fixed-term basis to cover a career break to teach on both our BA Television and BA Film courses. The role would be to deliver a range of modules but with a central focus on drama directing and production. We are looking for someone who can inspire and support the passionate creatives within each of our students. You would be working within a vibrant team of professionals and academics from within the television and film industries.
The successful candidate will have industry experience in drama, ideally as a Director and ideally with broadcast television and / or feature film credits in this role. You will be primarily involved in the development, delivery, and assessment of drama across all years of the film and television courses. Teaching experience of fundamentals of film and television practice to diverse groups in an HE environment is desirable.
Teaching on our undergraduate courses in BA Television and Film you will possess a Master's degree in a relevant subject area. You will primarily be working with diverse cohorts contributing to some or all of the following:
Acting as Module Leader for core Television module: 1st year First Positions – an introduction to working as a small collaborative crew on location-based short drama projects. You would also be involved in pastoral care.
Contributing to core Film modules: 2nd year Creative Delivery – leading the narrative pathway. You may also be required to contribute some small-group teaching to a first year Film module.
On both courses you would be supervising and supporting 3rd year graduation films (particularly for those students specialising in drama direction).
About You
The ideal candidate will be a passionate educator and an organized, capable administrator with a record of assisting undergraduate and perhaps postgraduate students in finding their voice and realizing their ambitions and have a demonstrable record of current research and scholarship.
