The Role
This role will play an important part in this developing service, by supporting and developing the data warehouse and business intelligence products, using Microsoft tools and technologies such as Azure and Power BI to improve the University’s capability to maximise the value of our data. Flexible working arrangements are available.
Essential Criteria
- Good oral and written communication skills and the ability to develop effective working relationships, both internally and externally.
- Strong digital competence with demonstrable skills in using core digital tools including internet, email, digital communication tools and Microsoft 365 applications.
- Educated to degree level (or equivalent experience).
- Ability to solve problems and resolve issues, plan solutions and make pragmatic decisions.
- Data driven and good analytical skills.
- An understanding of data warehouse and business intelligence methods and practices.
- Good technical capabilities, including in data engineering and dashboard development.
- Ability to understand and relay complex data-related issues in an understandable manner.
- Able to provide 3rd line support for the applications that have been developed and manage change using version control techniques.
- Able to create complex SQL Server views and stored procedures.
- Understanding of information security and data governance principles such as GDPR.
- Experience of providing specialist advice and guidance to a range of customers and colleagues, including more senior colleagues.
- Professional practitioner with specialist knowledge and expertise used to contribute to the delivery and development of services, processes and activities within the organisation.
- Experience of implementing policy and procedures and involvement with future changes for a service area.
- Experience of being able to network effectively and develop strong and productive working relationships.
Desirable Criteria
- Relevant industry and professional recognition and certification of achievement of skills and knowledge.
- Continuing professional development required to maintain professional recognition.
- Experience of delivering and developing specialist services for IT provision.
- Knowledge and experience of ensuring compliance with regulatory and organisational policy and guidelines.
- Knowledge and experience of SSIS, SSAS and SSRS.
- Good knowledge and experience of Power BI and DAX.
- Involvement in project definition and gathering of business requirements.
- ITIL Foundation.
