Research Associate in Protocell Research

The role

Two postdoctoral positions are available in the school of chemistry, working under the supervision of Professor Stephen Mann (FRS). The project involves the development of new methods for the construction of synthetic protocells and their collective behaviour as integrated communities with emergent properties.

What will you be doing?

• Contribute effectively to the research programme of the School under the guidance of your supervisor.
• Use initiative and creativity to analyse and interpret research data and draw conclusions on the outcomes.
• Present information on research progress and outcomes to groups overseeing the research project and in wider School-based fora such as research seminars.
• Write up results from own research activity and contribute to the research project’s dissemination, in whatever form (report, papers, chapters, book, conference posters and presentations).
• Maintaining accurate records of experimental detail and the data obtained.

You should apply if

• PhD (or close to completion) in a science discipline
• Expertise in soft matter science (knowledge of soft matter systems and their characterization)
• Experience in areas such as microcapsule preparation and characterization, fluorescence microscopy/spectroscopy, bioconjugation chemistry, microfluidics, FACS, cell-free gene expression, cell biology
