We are interested in applicants who have recent experience of delivering History and Theory modules plus research led Architectural Design studios as part of BA(Hons) Architecture or Master of Architecture programmes. We are looking for inspiring, enthusiastic and creative academics to make a key contribution to the delivery and development of our provision through teaching, research and enterprise.
The role is to provide level and module leadership as part of our architecture programmes. The successful candidate will contribute to the further development and identity of architecture education in the Leeds School of Architecture. You will have successfully completed a Master’s Degree in Architecture and be able to demonstrate a good record of achievement in teaching and research. You will be a strong team player, demonstrate excellent skills in module leadership and in team-working, organisation and management. You will be an advocate for responsible and inclusive practices and be a champion for promoting diversity and equality in architecture.
Leeds School of Architecture’s expanding pedagogical provision comprises the following programmes: BA (Hons) Architecture, Part 1; Master of Architecture, Part 2; PG Dip Architectural Professional Practice and Postgraduate Certificate in Architectural Professional Practice, Part 3; the Architecture Degree Apprenticeship (launched in 2021); PhD in Architecture, Urban Design, Interiors and Landscape, as well as courses in Interior Architecture (BA), Urban Design (MA), and Landscape Architecture (BA, MA, PG Dip). There are engagements between staff and students through our interdisciplinary studio culture facilitated by the exceptional provision at Broadcasting Place and the wider resources across the School of Arts.
Our studio-based courses address the critical and creative role of the contemporary designer in relation to physical and social contexts - from the revitalisation and the sustainability of the urban environment, to live projects and community participation, to the application of forms of digital fabrication or new technologies, to the exploration of new media reinventing languages of multidisciplinary practice. Design practice, technology and history and theory modules are inextricably linked, and the BA(Hons) Architecture and Master of Architecture courses provide the foundation for creative practice of contemporary relevance.
