The role
The Deputy School Manager will work alongside the School Manager in discharging responsibility in key areas such as finance, human resources, comms and marketing and estates management. The role holder will support the School Manager in the overall operational management of the School by directly managing, developing and taking responsibility for the professional and effective administrative support of the School within their remit.
What will you be doing?
You will support workforce planning, provide professional support and advice to all staff within the School including facilitating liaison with other Faculty and central University staff as appropriate.
You will also take responsibility for coaching, motivating and managing the performance of administrative staff in the School within their remit to ensure CPD and as a means of providing optimal levels of service provision.
You will also work independently and in liaison with the School Manager to initiate, develop, implement and review administrative policies, procedures and systems as appropriate for the effective and efficient operational and external promotion of the School and ensure that these are communicated effectively to staff, students and stakeholders.
You will also work closely with the Faculty Finance team to monitor the day to day financial management of the School and have line management responsibility for the Schools administrative Exec and Comms and Marketing teams and work in close collaboration with the School Education and Research Managers to ensure that all appropriate academic support needs are met and academic staff are provided with an efficient and effective service to assist them in supporting their education and research objectives.

We would like to hear from you if you have relevant experience in a management or supervisory position preferably gained within a large, complex organisation and have demonstrable experience in leading, supporting and being part of a team of managers working across diverse areas of responsibility.
You will have proven financial experience in managing and controlling budgets effectively along with a comprehensive understanding of human resource policy and practice.
You will also have experience of interacting effectively with a wide range of internal and external contacts, dealing with sensitive and complex issues, and should be able to operate in a collegial culture and develop effective, collaborative relationships with academic and professional service colleagues. Ideally you will also be educated to degree standard.
