We are looking for an appointee who will integrate into a multidisciplinary research group (Dr Selvaraj/Prof Chandran) within the UK Dementia research institute to contribute and expand our knowledge on pathophysiology of motor neuron disease (MND) with an ultimate goal of developing novel therapeutic approaches.
The Opportunity:
The post holder will integrate into a multidisciplinary research group (Dr Selvaraj/Prof Chandran) within the UK Dementia research institute to contribute and expand our knowledge on pathophysiology of motor neuron disease (MND) with an ultimate goal of developing novel therapeutic approaches. In particular, this project will utilise complex 3D organoid models derived from human stem cells to study neuro-muscular junctions and oligodendrocyte myelination and its involvement in pathophysiology of motor neuron disease. This project will also involve application of single cell transcriptomics and state-of-the-art spatial transcriptomics technology, in collaboration with Prof Phatnani – Columbia university, on organoid models to interrogate the molecular dysfunction.
The post holder will conduct original research and produce data for high quality publications, grant proposals and dissemination to the public. This post is ideally serves as a springboard for those motivated to pursue for independent career fellowships or industry career in future.
