The post-holder will be primarily based on the Singleton Park Campus but may be required to work across University sites as required.
The Academic Records and Data Systems team within Academic Services is responsible for the development, coordination and monitoring of the University’s academic and student data quality, institutional level data collections, student administration, assessment systems and the development and management of major, value added data systems.
The primary aim of the Student Finance Assistant will be to undertake a range of essential activities within the Student Records Office to ensure the University’s compliance with Student Finance service level agreements, duties and responsibilities. The main purpose of the role is to support the University’s student finances through the monitoring, tracking and reporting of student finance transactions, sponsor and tuition fee data. The role holder will also have responsibility of supporting the University’s business, teaching and learning activities by maintaining and monitoring student and academic records. Reporting to the Student Records Manager and liaising with staff across the University, using student records to track University student finances throughout the student lifecycle, and to report changes to student circumstances to the Student Loans Company through the HEP system where appropriate.
Candidates should have a sound basic education, including a minimum of Grade ‘C’ in Maths and English or equivalent work experience, with experience of high volume data entry and retrieval activities on a large database, student finance rules and regulations and how these impact on individuals and organisations, and experience of reporting and liaising with external agencies and stakeholders. In addition candidates should have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to present information in a clear and accurate manner to varied audiences and stakeholders, excellent organisational and time management skills with ability to prioritise work to meet deadlines, using initiative and problem solving to resolve day-to-day problems interpreting complex procedures and regulations. Candidates should also have a good understanding of data integrity, attention to detail regarding data quality and the ability to work methodically and follow set processes and procedures accurately, with knowledge of the Student Loans Company compliance requirements and an overview of the University’s student finance and tuition fee policies.
