The role
Aberystwyth University is a community that cares. We stand together against all forms of violence and recognise the impact of Trauma and Adverse Childhood Experiences (TrACE) within and beyond our community. We are committed to creating a campus culture in which members of our community feel safe and supported, where in no circumstances are they subjected to hate or harm and in which our community demonstrate care and compassion in all that they do.
This important post, which is joint funded by the University and the ACE Hub Wales will play a leading role in Aberystwyth becoming a trauma informed University. The postholder will work in close partnership with the ACE Hub Wales, Wales Violence Prevention unit, third sector and statutory services to develop strategy and policy, positively influence a culture of care and compassion and play a key influencing role in tackling violence in all its forms.
The postholder will play a key role in shaping the direction of this strategic aspiration. There are though three main strands to the role of this 2-year project position: these being:
Strategy Design and Implementation
To work with partners across and beyond the University (ACE Hub Wales, Wales Violence Prevention Unit) to develop an overarching TrACE Strategy and an innovative and accessible framework to prevent and respond to violence in all its forms.
Community Outreach, Partnership and Education
To develop relationships within the University across Wales and beyond which support and sustain the strategy into the future, and which contribute to the aspiration of becoming a TrACE University. The postholder will play a coordinating role in establishing a connected framework in which our community and partners have access to learning, education and support which will increase awareness and confidence and stimulate positive culture change.
Realising Impact
To develop a range of intervention and evaluation measures which demonstrate the impact of the project and the longer-term work that we are committing to as a TrACE informed University and community.
The post holder will develop strong relationships across and beyond the sector as they develop their understanding and expertise in this important area; they will, as a result be expected to contribute to sector discussions and research and to disseminate their good practice where it is appropriate.
This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and proactive project manager to play a pivotal role in contributing to increasing awareness and making positive change at Aberystwyth University. A Gold standard University. Voted Welsh University of the Year 2020 and top university in England and Wales for overall student satisfaction (NSS 2019)
