We are looking to recruit a Research Associate to support research funded by Cancer Research Horizons (CRH) to deliver on key milestones set out by a Leicester-CRH Research Contract. The Research Associate will take a lead in securing fresh tumour samples, and deriving these into patient derived explants, which they will treat with CRH-anticancer drugs and conduct endpoint analysis. The project sits at the cutting edge of ex-vivo cancer modelling, and the post holder will contribute to the application and development of novel methodologies of explant endpoint analysis to evaluate biomarkers for commercially sensitive anti-cancer drugs. This post requires the ability to work at the interface with the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust, interacting with Clinical Care Teams and Pathology Department and the collation of Clinical data. You will also need to be confident in training staff and students involved in the handling of human tissues and ensure laboratory activities are compliant with regulatory bodies.
We are looking for a proactive individual who holds, or has submitted a PhD in a relevant discipline, and is experienced working with primary/clinical human samples/tissues. Experience of multiplexed immunofluorescence is also essential. Desirable attributes include experience of digital pathology, image analysis and statistical evaluation of clinical data.
Informal enquiries are welcome and should be made to Dr Gareth Miles on gjm14@leicester.ac.uk
