The role
Ravensbourne’s internationally renowned BA Fashion course has a strong heritage and reputation for producing highly employable graduates with a distinctive personal design identity equipped with future proof skills. The course is looking to recruit a dynamic, innovative and future thinking creative pattern cutting lecturer to strengthen and complement the existing BA Fashion team.
The candidate
The post holder will have strong contemporary awareness with extensive industry experience pattern cutting womenswear / menswear for ready to wear, as well as experience in effective teaching and learning methods in higher education.
Knowledge of the design process to include research & concept ideation, 2D design development through to 3D creative product outcomes with a comprehensive working knowledge of pattern cutting and manufacturing will be essential.
Knowledge of digital tools for tech packs or Gerber CAD software is an advantage, this is in line with our commitment to blending traditional skills and new technologies to optimise future employability.
As an innovative and conscientious fashion practitioner, the candidate will be expected to take part in curriculum development and employ creative teaching and learning strategies that bring fashion career roles to life. The candidate will possess excellent organisational skills, have the ability to engage and motivate students directly with their discipline.
He/she will have a first degree or post-graduate qualification in a relevant subject, and should be able to demonstrate excellent current professional knowledge and experience in areas outlined.
