We are inviting applications for a research assistant position to investigate Neurodegenerative disorders.

About the role

Neurodegenerative disorders are incurable diseases, which greatly impact upon the patients quality of life and wider society. The incidence of neurodegenerative diseases are strongly associated with differing risk factors including genetic aetiology and ageing. In addition, increasing prevalence of metabolic disease increases patients susceptibility to neural damage. This research assistant position will evaluate disturbances in neural tissue integrity and function investigating metabolic and genetic risk. These studies will investigate the underlying novel mechanisms that are attributable to neurological decline. A successful applicant will be based within Integrative Neurophysiology in the Department of Biosciences and will have experience in performing biochemical and molecular assays in differing biological contexts including RNA, DNA extractions and western blotting. Experience in managing samples from preclinical models as well as clinical samples is desirable.
