The Faculty of Social Sciences, Institute of Sport Sciences, of the Georg-August-University Göttingen seeks to fill a Professorship (W2) for Sociology of Sport and Health (All Genders Welcome) in Civil Service (grade W2 NBesO) at the next possible date.
We are looking for excellent applicants with a team-oriented and committed personality who have an outstanding record of relevant research, third-party funding, and international visibility in the field of sport and health sociology. Willingness to work closely within the Institute as well as with colleagues from other disciplines represented at the Faculty is expected. Active engagement in at least one of the faculty's research foci "Heterogenization - Homogenization", "Order - Disintegration", and "Digitality - Materiality" organized under the guiding theme "Dynamics of Social Transformation" is required. Strong interest and experience in sociological research on sport and child and adolescent health is desired.
The teaching duties of the professorship mainly include courses in the institute's Bachelor's and Master's programs as well as in the BA program in Social Sciences. The position holder is expected to provide teaching in particular in the MA program "Sports Science with a focus on prevention, rehabilitation and psychosocial health". Contributions to modules in the elective area as well as to the PhD program of the Göttingen Graduate School of Social Sciences are also required. The University emphasizes research-oriented teaching.
Application requirements are a habilitation or habilitation-equivalent achievements on topics in the sociology of sport and health.
Legal requirements for the position are outlined in §25 of the Niedersächsisches Hochschulgesetz in its currently valid version. Candidates who completed their PhDs at the University of Göttingen can only be considered for this position if they have been employed as scientists outside the University of Göttingen for at least two years since completing their PhDs. The University of Göttingen holds the right of appointment. More details will be provided upon request.
