Fixed-term contract for 3 years, 1.0 FTE.
Applications are invited from motivated individuals to work on an MRC-funded project to investigate host-bacterial interactions of the human pathogen, Staphylococcus aureus. The overall aim of the project is to understand the biological functions of specialized type VII secretion system during staphylococcal infection. The role of T7SS proteins in the modulation of host responses will be investigated using molecular genetics, cell biology and immunological approaches.
Demonstrated excellence in research will be the main criterion for appointment, as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications in a relevant subject. You will have a PhD in microbiology, immunology or a related subject with excellent expertise in molecular or cellular microbiology. Prior experience in cellular immunology and microscopy is strongly preferred.
If you are near submission or have recently submitted your PhD but have not yet had it conferred, any offers of employment will be made as Research Assistant at the top of level 5 of the University grade structure (£31,411). Upon receipt of evidence of the successful award of your PhD, you will be promoted to Research Fellow on the first point of level 6 of the University grade structure (£32,348).
