The Institute of Citizenship, Society and Change was established at the University of Central Lancashire in 2018 to conduct transdisciplinary research that addresses 21st century challenges through the lens of citizenship, society and change. ICSC is an incubator for transdisciplinary research clusters at UCLan and has members from across schools and faculties. The Institute is home to thirteen UCLan Research Centres and Units.

A Research Associate position is now available to support the ongoing development of the Institute of Citizenship, Society and Change, a leading transdisciplinary Research Institute in the university. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the develop of the research environment at UCLan and the planning of research projects within ICSC. The successful candidate will support Institute members from multiple disciplines across the University, engaging in group coordination and facilitation activities to enable cross-fertilisation and co-working across diverse Institute members, thus providing capacity for developing new transdisciplinary areas of research. You will have experience of conducting high quality academic research relevant to the Institute’s priority thematic areas: Sustainability and Resilience; Wellbeing of People, Places and the Planet; Social, Economic and Ecological Justice; Citizenship, Culture, Care and Civic Renewal. You will proactively engage with the Directors, Senior Research Coordinator and members of the Institute and other relevant stakeholders and will contribute to the research underpinning delivery of the objectives of the Institute. You will also support the team in identifying research opportunities for the Institute and its members, planning events and delivering the communications strategy.

Working with a diverse group of researchers within UCLan, and with external organisations, the post- holder will ensure that effective systems and processes are in place to build a strong research portfolio across the Institute and will support relevant research activity. The post-holder will participate in a range of research activities to enhance the profile of the Institute and support the wider activities within the University.

You will hold a PhD or equivalent background/experience in an area related to the work of the Institute of Citizenship, Society and Change and its priority themes.
