The role

We welcome applications for the post of Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Creative Writing to join the well-established and thriving team in the York Centre for Writing, which sits in the School of Humanities at York St John University. We are particularly interested in candidates with a specialism in poetry, but the successful candidate will be expected to teach modules which introduce a range of different forms. Duties will involve undergraduate teaching at all levels, contributing to postgraduate courses at MA and MFA level and PhD supervision.

Key requirements

Candidates should have a track record of published creative work; ideally they will offer outputs that can be included in the next REF. Candidates should be able to demonstrate ongoing commitment to practice, research and to public facing events; they will need to be willing to work regularly and collaboratively with other team members and ideally, internal and external partners too. They will be published creative writers with experience in teaching at HE-level, ideally with a PhD in Creative Writing or a related field.
