The University of Edinburgh’s Information Services Group (ISG) is looking for a motivated and conscientious HR professional to manage its Unitemps student employment service.

This highly rewarding role is offered as an initial 12-month Fixed Term Contract. The post holder will report to ISG’s HR Business Partner, and working hours are Monday-Friday 35hrs per week, although flexible /part-time working patterns may be considered. It is anticipated that the post holder will have a hybrid-working pattern, working partly from home and partly from campus.

This is a unique role that offers a chance for someone to manage a student employment service that helps enable ISG to deliver on critical projects, as well as having a direct and visible impact on improving student experience.

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Leading on ISG’s strategy for, and the delivery of, student employment.
  • Leading on all aspects of the Unitemps recruitment service. This includes strategies for advertising and promotion, on boarding and induction, and on-the-job support for both part-time student staff and full-time summer interns.
  • Working in partnership with stakeholders from across ISG and providing expert recruitment advice and support to managers.
  • Being aware of relevant pieces of legislation and regulations, such as AWR and immigration guidance, and keeping up to date with any legislative changes. 
  • Working closely with students to provide employability support sessions, delivered on both a 1-2-1 and group basis.
  • Managing a team of four (2.6 FTE) and providing them with support, guidance and training.
  • Working closely with stakeholders from other parts of the University, including the Careers Service and HR Operations teams.
  • Attending events, such as careers fairs, to promote ISG and Unitemps to the University’s student population.
  • Establishing relationships with other parts of the national Unitemps network, as well as working closely with the Unitemps Franchise Relationship Manager.
