Applications are sought for a committed Post-doctoral Research Fellow to work with Prof. Bettina Bildhauer conducting research for an AHRC-DFG funded project entitled “The Seven Sages of Rome: editing and reappraising a forgotten premodern classic from global and gendered perspective”. The primary duties will be identifying manuscript and print versions of this text and entering data about them into an online database, co-authoring two academic articles and co-editing an edited collection.
The successful applicant will have (or be near to completion of) a PhD in a relevant subject with knowledge of ONE or more of the 30+ medieval or early modern languages and literatures in which The Seven Sages of Rome/Dolopathos/Book of Sindibad tradition is transmitted except Dutch and German (e.g., Arabic, Armenian, Castilian, Czech, Danish, English, French, Greek, Hebrew, Icelandic, Latin, Persian, Polish, Russian, Scots, Swedish, Syriac, Turkish, Yiddish) and an understanding of gender studies.
