The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) is a world-leading centre for research and postgraduate education in public and global health. Our mission is to improve health and health equity in the UK and worldwide; working in partnership to achieve excellence in public and global health research, education and translation of knowledge into policy and practice.
The Nutrition Group in the Department of Population Health wishes to appoint a Research Fellow in Nutrition, based in London, to work on a multi-partner research project entitled the GCRF Action Against Stunting Hub (AASH).
The successful candidate will oversee the nutrition component of three cohort studies, in India, Indonesia and Senegal. This component will focus on the collection, management and analyses of dietary, anthropometric, biochemical data collected from pregnant women and their infants; and its integration with data on epigenetics, the microbiome, and the environment.
The successful candidate will have a postgraduate degree, ideally a doctoral degree, in a relevant topic, and experience in the collection, management and analyses of dietary, anthropometric and biochemical nutrition data. They will have a good understanding of the aetiology of stunted growth among children in low-and-middle-income countries. Further particulars are included in the job description.
The post is part-time, 0.5 FTE and fixed term until 12 February 2024. The post is funded by Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF) of UK Research and Innovations (UKRI), and is available immediately. Although the post is based in London, the post-holder will be expected to travel to Senegal, Indonesia or India to spend discrete periods in each country.
The salary will be on the Academic Pathway salary scale Grade 6 in the range £41,829-£47,503 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part-time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London.
