About us:
The UWE Bristol School of Art and Design seeks to recruit a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer (0.5 FTE for 12 months as maternity cover) with expertise in Interior/Spatial Design for the BA (Hons) Interior Design course.
This post is based at our City Campus in Bristol city centre which comprises of Bower Ashton Studios, Arnolfini, Spike Island and Watershed and is home to UWE Bristol's creative and cultural subjects. Through a combination of University sites and partnerships with creative and cultural organisations in the city, we have developed a network of cultural and creative spaces. These enable our students and staff to develop their professional practice in inspiring learning environments as well as provide opportunities for creative collaboration and networking.
The BA (Hons) Interior Design course has grown considerably since starting in 2014. We have an exciting opportunity for a 0.5 Lecturer/Senior Lecturer to join the programme for a fixed period of one year as maternity cover. We are seeking an individual who can fully contribute to the School's creative community. Understanding and proactivity in promoting equality, diversity and inclusivity in learning and teaching, as well as research and enterprise engagement.
The focus of this role is to deliver outstanding learning outcomes that enhance and inform teaching design and curriculum development. With a specific focus on the delivery of Interior/Spatial activities, you will contribute to a course with a strong reputation and ambition.
About you:
We are looking for an experienced and able creative practitioner with experience in HE to join our team supporting the academic development of the programme. The appointee will have a strong level of professional experience, including particular interest and expertise in the expanded field of Interior/Spatial Design.
The successful candidate will offer subject expertise in a broad range of Interior/Spatial Design Practices to complement existing expertise within the Faculty. Applicants should be active creative practitioners and/or researchers, with thorough knowledge and current experience of contemporary professional practice in Interior Design.
Essential experience and skills include:
Evidence of contextual knowledge of the interdisciplinary professional approaches relevant within the expanded field of Interior Design practices
Evidence of contemporary professional practice with a good understanding of both traditional and contemporary materials and manufacture processes relating to Interior Design practices
