WHAT WE DO
The Directorate of Estates and Capital Projects comprises Health, Safety and Environment team, the Campus Facilities team, Property and Maintenance team and Capital Projects team. Between them they service a large estate across the whole of the Luminate Group.
As well as undergoing a significant restructure to enable future growth and address much needed change, the directorate is embarking in a growth programme to create a number of new campuses over the next five years which will address a significant growth in student numbers across the region.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Based at Keighley College this role is part of a small team responsible for ensuring that the teaching and learning activities are able to run as they should by supporting the building and systems that enable classes to be set up. Duties include working as part of a team to provide Estates support services to create a safe, clean and welcoming site for students, staff and visitors.
Engaging with students to ensure they feel welcome and safe on sites and understand the standards of behaviour expected, intervening restoratively where necessary and ensuring students (as well as staff) are wearing their ID cards. The submitting of incident reports as and when required.
Undertake security duties including general guarding, patrolling, access control, CCTV system monitoring as required (in line with policy and legislation only designated named staff will be expected to view CCTV and training will be given) to support the provision of a safe and secure environment and provide effective security of College buildings, contents and grounds.
Liaise with and support on-site contractors and visitors to site ensuring compliance with the College rules and policies submitting incident reports as required. You will support the Facilities Supervisor in all the above as well as assisting the team with ensuring that the site looks at it's best at all times, and any other facilities duties as and when required.
The role is 37 hours week, spread equally over 5 days and the college currently operates Monday to Friday, although weekend work may be required as needed. Your role will mainly cover during the times Students are on site, so actual shift times will depend on whether it's term time and the day of the week.
YOUR PROFILE
The most important and essential attributes for this role are a commitment to self development and to delivering outstanding customer service to our students and staff Good interpersonal skills (i.e. being able to deal with people correctly, communicate effectively, be a team player and stay focused on what needs to be done).
Being able to deal with challenging situations in a calm and measured manner are also essential. Having worked in a customer service environment would be an advantage. Desirable, but not essential: having an SIA door supervision or CCTV monitoring licence. Having worked in an educational setting in a previous role, would also be beneficial. English and Maths GCSE or equivalent and a driving licence.
