Are you interested in working for a world top 100 university? We are looking to appoint an experienced researcher keen to work on an exciting project in computer-aided drug design funded by Boehringer Ingelheim. The aim of the project is to develop improved methods for the automated design of novel drug compounds using evolutionary optimisation techniques. The appointee will join the Chemoinformatics Research Group headed by Prof Val Gillet and will work closely with collaborators at Boehringer Ingelheim. The Sheffield Chemoinformatics group works in partnership with various pharmaceutical, agrochemical and chemoinformatics software companies on a variety of chemoinformatics-related projects. The main areas of focus within the group are the development and evaluation of virtual screening methods including 2D and 3D similarity searching; applications of AI and machine learning in drug discovery; applications of knowledge graphs in drug discovery; and de novo design whereby novel compounds are designed to fit various constraints.
If you feel like you would be a good fit for the role, we would love to hear from you!
