Norwich CTU is a UKCRC Registered Clinical Trials Unit, based at the University of East Anglia in the East of England. We support a large number of Clinical Research Projects across a broad range of clinical disciplines and interventions including multicentre randomised drug, device and complex intervention trials. To support this work, we employ a large number of clinical trial managers, data programmers, statisticians, health economists, epidemiologists and research methodologists.
As a Unit, we have a very diverse and expanding research portfolio. We currently undertake research in the fields of cardiovascular and respiratory medicine, diabetes, neurology, oncology, smoking cessation, CFS, dementia, musculoskeletal, mental health and care, social care and health service improvement.
We are looking for a researcher with experience of qualitative research methods to join our team and support the delivery of process evaluation on two NIHR funded randomised controlled trials: the Reflective Fostering Study and FluCare. The Reflective Fostering Programme is a 10-week intervention, delivered jointly by an experienced foster carer and a social worker. It is designed to promote ‘reflective parenting’ among foster carers, caring for children aged 4-13. FluCare is a randomised controlled trial which aims to estimate the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of a complex intervention designed to increase staff flu vaccination rates in care homes for older adults. You will work with the process evaluation team to support data collection and analysis in the form of interviews, focus groups, observations, and document reviews with a view to understand acceptability, and the extent to which intervention components are delivered as intended in terms of content, dose and implementation and theoretical fidelity.
You will have a degree in a relevant area e.g., health, social sciences, research methods and experience of qualitative data collection, management, analysis, and reporting.
The post is available immediately on a full-time basis for a fixed term period to 31 March 2024 and is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and appointment will be subject to a criminal record check at Enhanced level from the Disclosure and Barring Service.
UEA offers a variety of flexible working options and although this role is advertised on a full-time basis, we encourage applications from individuals who would prefer a flexible working pattern including annualised hours, compressed working hours, part- time, job share, term-time only and/or hybrid working. Details of preferred hours should be stated in the personal statement and will be discussed further at interview.
We strongly encourage applications from women and all those from Black, Asian or other minority ethnic backgrounds and welcome applications from all protected groups as defined by the Equality Act 2010. Appointment will be made on merit.
