Lecturer Clinical Skills and Simulated Learning Are you interested in joining an exciting group of nursing academics and technicians within a Department and skills team that provides a dynamic and supportive working environment and experience? Are you keen to influence the future workforce in nursing, midwifery and healthcare – to be the best that it can be? Do you have a passion for practice, teaching, learning, and research? Have you got current practice / skills teaching experience as an NMC-registered nurse or midwife supporting all levels of nursing, midwifery and healthcare practitioner?
Middlesex University is building on the achievements of its clinical skills team by appointing high achieving, dynamic and experienced NMC-registered practitioners, wishing to combine practice with academia.
As a successful candidate, you should have robust practice experience together with a demonstrable understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing nursing and midwifery practice. An interest in Virtual and Augmented technologies, simulated learning environments and a commitment to innovative practice would be particularly useful.
This is a time of unprecedented change in nursing and midwifery and the successful candidate will have a unique opportunity to shape practice for our Nurses, Midwives and Nursing Associates and influence curricula and workforce development. Successful candidates will have strong leadership skills and a commitment to developing student practice through skills development, and research development with stakeholders to meet sector needs, to enhancing the learner experience.
Our ideal candidates will have significant recent experience of working within nursing or midwifery practice, confidence in teaching a range of clinical skills, with an interest in contemporary learning technologies. Preference will be given to candidates with experience of working in a skills lab setting, teaching either particularly resuscitation or moving and handling. With a relevant first degree you must also be currently registered as an adult nurse or midwife in the United Kingdom. Ideally, you will also have a teaching qualification, and have, or be working towards a higher degree.
