Grade 7, Teaching and Scholarship
To support the MSc Applied Professional Studies in Adult Services, Support and Protection. To contribute to other UG and PG modules on the Social Work qualifying programmes. To support new Faculty Masters provision.
Grade 8, Teaching and Research
To coordinate modules and teach on the MSc Applied Professional Studies in: Child Wellbeing and Protection. To coordinate modules and teach on other Social Work Qualifying Programmes at undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG). To contribute to new Faculty Masters provision.
Description of Duties
Grade 7, Teaching and Scholarship
- Contribute to the enhancement of the quality of teaching provision and programme development, drawing on leading practices from the HE sector
- Contribute to continuous improvement of post-qualifying provision for the Scottish social services and allied health professional workforce. This post will have a particular focus, but not exclusive, on Adult Services, Support and Protection
- Demonstrate a broad understanding of effective approaches to teaching and learning support as key contributions to high quality student learning
Grade 8, Teaching and Research
- Engage in individual and collaborative research activity, which aligns to the strategic direction of the University, establish a distinctive programme of research and disseminate results through regular publication in high impact journals, books and conference proceedings
- Identify appropriate sources of funding, prepare research proposals for funding bodies and manage grants awarded
- Co-supervise or mentor research students and staff as required, providing direction, support and guidance
Essential Criteria
Grade 7, Teaching and Scholarship
Qualifications
- Social work or allied health qualified professionals
- Professional practice experience with adult care services, or teaching experience and/or a PhD in a relevant discipline
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Experience or knowledge to design, deliver, assess and evaluate modules in social work education or continuing professional development
- Demonstrate an understanding of or provide evidence of developing effective approaches to adult teaching and learning, student support and guidance
Grade 8, Teaching and Research
Qualifications
- Relevant professional qualification, with experience of a supervisory roles
- Extensive practice experience, or a PhD in a relevant discipline
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Extensive practice experience with children and families, specifically relating to child welfare protection
- Experience of teaching in a university environment
