The role
Northeastern University London wishes to appoint a Lecturer in Mathematics & Statistics. The appointee will contribute to the teaching activities of Northeastern University London in the areas of Mathematics and/or Statistics.
We wish to appoint a specialist in any area of Mathematics or Statistics. Preference may be given to candidates with active interests in the relationship of Mathematics/Statistics to one or more of the following areas: software and/or technology; employment contexts; diversity and inclusion. An interest in the teaching of Mathematics to diverse audiences is an asset, and the role is focused on instructing students who are not partaking in a pure Mathematics degree.
Core duties will include teaching on a range of courses within the subject area across levels 4 and 5 (1st and 2nd year undergraduates), with Mathematics as a support subject for a range of programmes, from Economics, Business and Computer Science to a wide range of Social Sciences and Humanities subjects. The role may include an opportunity to act as course leader, but will also involve teaching groups of students under another instructor’s Course leadership.

Department
In the first instance, the appointee will work in a multidisciplinary team under the Dean for Education in Business and Economics. In a typical academic year, the team includes 20-25 academic staff, including academics in Economics, Business, Marketing, Mathematics, Statistics, and Finance & Accounting. At present, the Mathematics team is comprised of 5 colleagues, with a growing engagement also with instructors in Physics, Chemistry, Data Science, Computer Science, and other adjacent fields.
The quality of teaching in the Faculty is high, as evidenced, for example, through scores in the National Student Survey and External Examiner reports.
