About the Role
The School of Politics and International Relations is pleased to announce that we are seeking an exceptional scholar to take up the position of Lecturer in Latin American Politics
The postholder will contribute to the intellectual life of the School, Faculty and University, and the wider research field of Latin American Politics. They will work with a diverse community of colleagues and students to deliver excellent teaching and research.
About You
You will have a PhD (or equivalent) in Politics or related discipline. You will have a developing reputation for internationally excellent research and high-quality publications. You will have an understanding of the opportunities and challenges involved in teaching a diverse student cohort. We welcome applications from those working within the broad area of Latin American and Caribbean politics, but we are especially keen to deepen our teaching provision in the following areas: Central America and the Caribbean, Human Rights and transitional justice, Institutions, parties and political behaviour, Ecological challenges and environmental politics, and Latin America-US relations.
About the School
The School of Politics and International Relations at Queen Mary University of London is one of the UK’s leading Politics and International Relations departments. It was ranked 7th overall among UK higher education institutions in the 2022 REF. The School has grown rapidly over the past five years and is now home to 50+ academic staff. It has recently expanded to include Sociology as well as Politics and IR in its teaching and research. It is home to a highly diverse cohort of students and offers a broad-ranging and methodologically plural curriculum in the fields of Politics and International Relations.

Benefits
The post is based at the Mile End Campus in London. It is full time permanent appointment with an expected start date of 1st September 2023. The starting salary will be Grade 5/6, in the range of £45,931 - £56,921 per annum inclusive of London Allowance.
