Job summary
Imperial’s Faculty of Engineering (www.imperial.ac.uk/engineering) carries out world-leading research in Aeronautics, Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computing, Design Engineering, Earth Science, Electrical Engineering, Materials, Mechanical Engineering.
The Engineering Faculty wishes to recruit a Senior Research Services Administrator (Assurance) to provide post-award support in the administering of the Faculty’s Research Funding. This is a key role requiring the post holder to draw from their own technical and operational excellence to support both Research Services and the Engineering Departments in delivering a cradle-to-grave service to the academic community with managing their research awards.
Duties and responsibilities
The role will particularly focus on audit and assurance activities to ensure the Engineering Faculty is delivering research administration in an environment compliant with both Funder along with College’s terms and conditions. You will lead and coordinate on audit process with respect to the Engineering grant portfolio and liaise with other College areas where appropriate.
Essential requirements
The role will perform and support a range of activities, such as management of overheads and FEC journals for indirect and estates recovery, coordinating and conducting regular account reviews, reviewing and maintaining reconciliations for all awards, support the preparation and submission of financial claims and invoices as per the funders’ term and conditions, producing and reporting financial statements; coordination of research partner expenditure statements and payments, along with raising purchase orders relating to research collaborative agreements and subcontracts; in addition to dealing with account based queries.
You will have proficient computer skills (excel, word, email), an eye for figures and be able to work to deadlines both independently and as part of a team. You will be committed to the delivery of customer services and have a “can do” approach. The position is full-time and offers an excellent training opportunity.

The College is currently trialling a Work Location Framework until early 2023. Hybrid working may be considered for this role and the role holder may be expected to work 60% or more of their time onsite, with 40% the minimum time spent onsite. The opportunity for hybrid working will be discussed at interview.
