We have a fabulous opportunity to join the UWE Bristol sustainability team as Environmental Management Lead. You will be responsible for maintaining the environmental management system (EMS) documentation and records, leading the internal EMS audit programme across the entire university, and helping to develop and track policies and action plans.
The UWE Bristol sustainability team is responsible for embedding sustainability across the whole university, including developing and implementing new environmental sustainability policies and practices. We are a multi-disciplinary team and collaborate with colleagues across the university to embed sustainability into the our activities. We work across all areas of sustainability, and are responsible for monitoring environmental performance and compliance.
The role is varied and impactful, maintaining certification of the university to ISO14001:2015 Environmental Management System, including environmental auditing and coordination of external and third-party audits and environmental incident reporting. You will analyse, benchmark and report sustainability performance from numerous sources both within and external to the university and ensure that we are compliant with environmental compliance obligations. You will deliver continual improvement in Environmental management through this work and will play a key part in delivering UWE’s ambitious 2030 Strategy.
You have experience across a range of environmental and sustainability issues within a large and complex organisation. You’re passionate and knowledgeable about environmental sustainability and its context within and between organisations. You’re highly motivated, detail oriented and organised, with the ability to manage your workload across competing priorities.
Excellent team working and communication skills will be essential for this role. You’ve got great analytical skills and creativity, as well as an ability to work with a wide range of people to effectively review conformity to standards and requirements. An important part of the role will be working with colleagues to deliver improvements to the EMS, you will need to effectively communicate with, and influence a broad range of stakeholders to achieve this.

This is a full-time, permanent post, working 37 hours per week
