The Nuffield Department of Women's & Reproductive Health (NDWRH) have an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Researcher in Maternity Data Analysis & Fetal Risk Assessment.
The aim of the project is to reduce stillbirth rates globally. Our project is developing novel wearable sensors for fetal monitoring in pregnancy. We will develop state-of-the-art image analysis algorithms for automatic, continuous monitoring of the fetus in utero, that enable the early identification of the onset of fatal deterioration and guide clinical interventions.
Reporting to Professor Georgieva, the post holder will be a member of her research group and will be responsible for the development of predictive models based on the data captured by the new wearable sensors in combination with known clinical risk factors such as maternal comorbidities.
This is an excellent opportunity for candidates who are interested in acquiring experience of research in a world-class academic unit (see http://www.wrh.ox.ac.uk), while contributing to a multi-disciplinary multi-national project of global importance.
The suitable candidate will hold a PhD/DPhil (or be close to completion) in Statistics, Mathematics, Healthcare Data Science or a related discipline or alternatively, in the absence of post-graduate degree, have equivalent experience in data analysis and prognostic models. Be skilled in setting up, curating and integrating large datasets from different sources and have experience with developing and evaluating prognostic statistical models and large datasets analysis.
The post-holder will be self-motivated, an excellent communicator and have the ability to work independently as well as in multidisciplinary teams with experts with diverse cultural and scientific backgrounds. Has experience collaborating with obstetricians or other healthcare professionals, especially in maternity and is able to present research results through presentations and to represent the research group at scientific meetings.
The post is offered on a full-time, fixed term basis. The post is fixed until 30th September 2025.
Applications for flexible working arrangements are welcomed and will be considered in line with business needs.
