We are seeking to appoint an Electrical Engineering Manager (Chartered Engineer with Senior Authorised Person (SAP) experience) to be part of the PNDC senior management team influencing key decisions and the strategic direction of the centre. You will have primary responsibility for the safe operation and management of PNDC 11kV and LV distribution networks at our facility in Cumbernauld. Reporting to the Operations Director you will have responsibility for all network operations (including switching, commissioning and testing of equipment under test, decommissioning and removal), providing and cancelling safety documents for PNDC colleagues and clients, and performing competency training and assessment.
The successful candidate will supervise a small team of electrical engineers who work closely with research engineers and team members from clients to provide efficient and safe demonstration and test services of novel technologies. You will support the development of and oversee the operation, upgrades and maintenance activities for all PNDC infrastructure, plant & equipment, implementing policy and procedures relevant to the safe operation & maintenance of the PNDC’s HV, LV, communications and SCADA systems.
While the Wardpark centre network is relatively small, the varied nature of the demonstration and testing work undertaken within it means that the post is an exciting and challenging one, often requiring the development of novel and bespoke test solutions for the latest emergent network and energy technologies.
You’ll be joining at a very exciting point in PNDC’s growth journey with the launch of a second facility at Inchinnan planned in 2023. As part of your role you will provide technical input on the design, installation and commissioning of the new facility.
We are looking for a person who thrives on solving technical challenges, who is a self-starter and proactive in approach, and who has strong communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to interact with a range of industrial partners, clients and colleagues.
