Full time, 35 hours per week

Fixed term for 10 months

Edinburgh College of Art is recruiting for a full-time Knowledge Exchange and Innovation Manager on a fixed term basis.

The Opportunity

The post-holder will provide a high-level of support to the organisation and development of knowledge exchange, innovation and impact activities across Edinburgh College of Art.  They will contribute to the development and implementation of ECA’s strategy for KEI, identifying opportunities for academic staff to use their research in public and commercial spaces and promoting the development and integration of KEI activity within the activities of the School as a whole, including preparation of brief narratives for publication in ECA’s news channels. 

The post holder will also lead and coordinate a programme of internal and external stakeholder engagement activities to promote better understanding of the strategic importance of impact and support maximal realisation of impact opportunities, including ensuring that mechanisms are in place for optimal impact data gathering and storage.

Skills and Attributes for Success

  • Educated to degree standard or equivalent formal training, plus hands-on experience in a similar or related role(s)
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of relevant HE and Creative/Cultural Industry sectoral issues
  • Proven record of project management and successful timely delivery
  • Ability to effectively translate and communicate research to a range of audiences, including academic, industry, policy makers and general public
  • Excellent skills in presentation and communication across a variety of platforms, including a well-developed understanding of media and the web to promote, disseminate and monitor engagement with knowledge exchange and impact outputs and activities
  • Excellent IT, data and digital skills, including Microsoft Office and reporting tools with the awareness and capacity to update these skills in line with advances in technology and requirements of the role
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team, and flexibly to respond to time-critical queries
  • High level of initiative and excellent influencing and interpersonal skills with the ability to feed into, encourage and implement strategic decisions to support the evolving needs of ECA’s academic community and development of activities to enhance impact of research.
