Machine learning (ML), or “AI” as it is referred to by the media, has been the driving force behind the most exciting recent technological advances, having its impact on fields as diverse as medical imaging, conversational agents, astronomy, and many more. The Oxford Applied and Theoretical Machine Learning (OATML) group is an energetic world-leading research group working at the core of machine learning research and its applications, located at the CS department, and led by Yarin Gal, Associate Professor of Machine Learning.

We are a multidisciplinary team of researchers (post-doc scientists and DPhil students), coming from diverse backgrounds including Computer Science, Maths & Stats, Engineering, Physics, and medical professionals, with most students coming from industry. OATML has 25+ researchers and at any given time, focused on 30+ concurrent projects across domains.

We are looking for an ambitious and entrepreneurial Project Manager to oversee the day-to-day running of the research group. The Project Manager will be responsible for the operations of the research group, will act as a force multiplier on the group’s impact, and will promote its global reputation. This post is an exciting opportunity for someone who is keen to support and collaboratively work with a fast paced and world-leading research group. You will be responsible for translating the vision of the group into an operational plan and executing the same. You will coordinate with multiple stakeholders across industry and academia to organise and manage the group's project portfolio which is composed of many projects (> £3m).

The ideal candidate will expertly coordinate between various departments and teams, write grants proposals, develop project and donor reports, assist in research dissemination by refining the group’s communication, outreach, and collaboration strategies. The candidate will coordinate with the media and help coordinate the group’s outreach efforts. The PM will lead and drive the group’s HR, finance, and health and safety related processes, coordinate with the relevant stakeholders as required. The role will offer great opportunities for career development, as a step to transition into a leadership position within the group. The successful candidate will be expected to work onsite in Oxford in line with current safe University of Oxford working practices. They will ensure that the relevant administrative duties are carried out  to support the delivery of the project, designating funds where needed to achieve this aim.
