About us
UCL is London's leading comprehensive research-intensive university, with more than 11,000 staff and 40,000 students from 150 different countries. Founded in 1826, in the heart of London, UCL was the first university in England to welcome students of any class or religion, and the first to welcome women on equal terms with men. Based in Bloomsbury, UCL is a welcoming, inclusive university situated at the heart of one of the world's greatest cities. Our central campus is close to many world-renowned museums and galleries, and within easy reach of all London mainline stations.
The BEAMS Research Coordination Office provides support to the community of researchers within the Faculties of The Built Environment, Engineering Sciences, and Mathematical & Physical Sciences. The team identifies research funding opportunities, coordinates responses to these and supports the development of strong research proposals.
About the role
This role is key in supporting the development of research funding across the BEAMS Faculties. The post holder will support academics with the preparation of grant applications, and support the submission of high-quality research proposals. Support will include producing guidance, providing reviews, undertaking practice interviews for candidates, and the design and implementation of internal selection processes. The Research Facilitators also work closely with Vice-Deans (Research) of the three Faculties and their Departmental Research Directors to develop successful strategies for research and research training activity, as well as help manage UCL's relationship with major funders.
About you
We are looking for a talented and motivated Research Facilitator (funding development manager) to join the team, with an understanding of the Higher Education sector and Research Landscape. You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, alongside strong analytical skills and a track record of problem solving. You will have experience and knowledge of national and international funding agencies and research trends, as well as experience of developing or synthesising research grant applications. You will be comfortable working in small groups and independently, with the ability to manage and prioritise workload across multiple concurrent projects.
