The School of Humanities and Social Sciences in the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Greenwich is seeking to appoint a fixed-term Lecturer in History for the 2023-24 academic session. The School is based at the historic world heritage site of the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich and has a strong interdisciplinary ethos. The School prides itself on the support provided to students throughout their studies, enhancing their knowledge, skill set, confidence and employability.

The candidate must have expertise in the history of the Middle East and/or global history, and should be actively engaged in research in these or related areas. You will join the History programme team and will be responsible for leading and teaching HIST1087: Making the Modern World: Europe, Asia, and Africa in the Long Nineteenth Century (Level 4) and HIST1067: Empire and Nation in the Middle East (Level 5). You will also be required to contribute to other teaching as appropriate, as well as to the wider work of the School.

We are seeking a proactive, enthusiastic individual who is committed to excellence in teaching, research and student support. Candidates must have excellent communication skills and experience of successfully delivering high-quality teaching. We are also interested in hearing from candidates who can contribute to our student employability activities. The successful candidate will hold a PhD in History or a related field.
