The Department for Continuing Education is seeking to appoint an experienced full-stack software engineer to lead development of a series of bespoke web applications and services, which support the department’s student administration, finance, HR, marketing, and e-commerce.

You will lead a small team of developers, and engage with colleagues at all levels, to plan and build new features and functionality, evolve the delivery architecture to take advantage of new technology and industry best practices, and ensure the availability of the applications and underlying systems. Your responsibilities will include software engineering, DevOps, line-management, and acting as an expert our data structures.

The successful candidate should have strong experience acting as a lead developer and mentoring a team. You will have extensive experience doing client- and server-side development (ideally with Python - we use Django), have experience with DevOps (we use GitLab CI, Docker, and Debian) and structuring and maintaining databases (we use SQL Server and Postgres). Experience with Kubernetes or deploying cloud-based applications would be a plus. You will enjoy working collaboratively, rapid design and prototyping, and building tools that make your colleagues’ and users’ lives easier.

This is a full-time, permanent post. All applications should be made online. Please submit a CV and a supporting statement as part of your application.

The closing date for applications is 12:00 noon on 12th June.
