University of Nottingham Ningbo China – The Language Centre

The Language Centre 

Since its inception in 2005, the Language Centre has continued to grow significantly. At present, it caters for over 1,000 students. The Language Centre sits in the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities and currently delivers core language provision for three degree programmes: BA International Communications, BA International Studies and BA International Business (with Chinese, French, German, Spanish, Japanese or German) as well as MA International Communications and MA Interpreting and Translation. The Language Centre also delivers optional language modules taken by students on a wide range of degree programmes. In addition, the Language Centre develops Executive Education courses for target audiences. 

About You 

The Language Centre is now recruiting a temporary German part time tutor to support the further development of the team. Candidates must hold a degree in a relevant subject; a language teaching qualification (such as Teaching German as a Foreign Language or degree in German language teaching). Ideally, they also have two years of experience teaching German, and the ability to teach from beginner to advanced levels; be able to use digital tools effectively for teaching and administration and be competent in the use of effective communication and presentation skills in English. 

The successful candidate will be expected to deliver German language classes across all years of the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes; to develop resources to support independent learning, to contribute to our developing external activities and to carry out administration and developmental activities in line with the strategic development of the Centre. 

Your Remuneration, Benefits and Support 

Salary will depend on skills and experience (salary progression beyond this is subject to performance). In addition, an attractive package including accommodation allowance, travel allowance and insurance will be provided for international appointments. 

This post is available from September 2023 and will initially be offered on a one year fixed-term contract with the University of Nottingham Ningbo, China. It will be renewed upon performance and may be extended on an indefinite basis by mutual agreement.
