The Solar and Magnetospheric Theory Group in the School of Mathematics and Statistics, University of St Andrews, has an opening for a Research Fellow, funded by an STFC Consolidated Grant (PI Prof Thomas Neukirch), to work in solar or magnetospheric theory with particular focus on one or more of the following general areas: magnetic reconnection, particle acceleration, solar magnetic activity processes, coronal heating, solar magnetic fields, and magnetospheric theory.  

Preference will be given to applicants who have previous research experience in solar MHD, magnetospheric MHD and/or space plasma/kinetic theory.  

You should have completed or expect to obtain shortly a PhD in either solar theory, magnetospheric theory, or a closely related subject.  

The post is available for 18 months, starting 1 August 2023, or as soon as possible thereafter.
