DMU has a commitment to the public good. We strive to maintain a stimulating and inclusive environment where staff and students are able to thrive.

Faculty / Directorate

By joining our Faculty of Health and Life Sciences, you will help prepare and develop entrant professionals joining the criminal justice system with the knowledge and expertise to make a significant difference to lives, communities and society. The Division of Community and Criminal Justice is part of the School of Applied Social Sciences, one of four specialist schools, also including Leicester School of Allied Health Sciences, Leicester School of Nursing and Midwifery, and Leicester School of Pharmacy.

Teaching reflects the latest developments in the sector and a number of our courses have professional accreditations. Many of our students are employed by the MoJ, HMPPS or the local Police Service, gaining vocational experience alongside their studies. Our staff are passionate about educating the next generation of criminal justice professionals.

Role

The CCJ Division is seeking to appoint a Senior Lecturer in Criminology and Criminal Justice (0.6 FTE) to join our growing team. The salary shown is the full time equivalent and will therefore be pro-rata.

You will have responsibility for, teach and assess on relevant modules and contribute to curriculum development across our Criminology programmes. You will ensure this provision remains intellectually stimulating and innovative, and relevant to developments within the subject area. There are opportunities to facilitate student learning using our outstanding facilities such as the Crime Scene House, Cube and the mock court room in delivery of these programmes.

You will join the Institute for Research in Criminology, Community, Education and Social Justice and align their research with one of our more focused research groups. Support for personal and professional development includes: further study, teaching qualification/professional recognition (PGCAP and/or FHEA) and research mentoring.

Ideal Candidate

You will hold a relevant postgraduate qualification or equivalent, and have demonstrable experience in teaching in Higher Education. You will be able to demonstrate excellent team working and organisational skills, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with all members of the University community and other external agencies.
