As a Professor joining the Department of Psychology, you will be an active researcher and you will make a critical contribution to the University of Sheffield.

We are particularly interested in hearing from applicants whose research skills and experience will enhance our existing strengths in the areas of precision and computational approaches to health, cognition and development. We value academic citizenship, and expect staff at all levels of seniority to promote principles of equality, diversity and inclusivity and to be team players who make a productive and collegial contribution to departmental life and governance in line with Departmental, Faculty and University strategy.
The Psychology Department at the University of Sheffield is among the largest in the UK and has been consistently ranked as one of the outstanding research departments in all seven UK Research Assessment Exercises to date. Over 90% of our department’s research was classed as internationally excellent or world leading in the 2021 Research Excellence Framework. Our excellence in research spans the discipline and we have highly active groups under the broad headings of social and health psychology, behavioural science, human development and cognition, neuroscience and computational modelling, and clinical psychology.
We are committed to exploring flexible working opportunities which benefit the individual and University.
We’re one of the best not-for-profit organisations to work for in the UK. The University’s Total Reward Package includes a competitive salary, a generous Pension Scheme and annual leave entitlement, as well as access to a range of learning and development courses to support your personal and professional development.
