Temporary Research Associate - Eating Disorders Health Integration Team

UWE, Bristol

Location: Bristol
Salary: Competitive Salary
Hours: Part Time
Contract Type: Fixed-Term/Contract
Placed On: 21st September 2023
Closes: 8th October 2023
Job Ref: R06542

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic individual to join the Bristol Health Partners Eating Disorders Health Integration Team (EDHIT) and the Centre for Appearance Research (CAR), to assist on a funding application for a project around diversity, inclusion and eating disorders services.

The study is funded by the Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire Integrated Care Board, and will deliver support to the Primary Investigator to draft an NIHR Research for Patient Benefit grant application focused on reducing health inequalities in our region.

The job will involve working with collaborators to develop our research design, including but not limited to:

  • outreach work with service users and members of communities who are under-served by and under-represented within local NHS eating disorders services.
  • further consultations with specialist eating disorder clinicians and relevant commissioners and voluntary sector organisations.
  • collaborating with the UWE Bristol Grants and Awards team to write the grant application.

The post-holder will gain valuable experience of working directly within an Academic Health Science Centre team of clinicians, academics, and experts by experience on a project which focuses on transforming and improving local eating disorders services, by removing barriers and creating more appropriate, attractive, and accessible services for minoritised groups.

This post would sit well along other commitments, and we welcome applicants from existing part-time Research Associates or current PhD or Professional Doctorate students.

About you: You are an emerging researcher with some experience of grant writing and/or a passion about creating more inclusive eating disorders services.

Experience of patient / public involvement work and/or lived experience of disordered eating would be appreciated but is not required.

This post is based at our lively Frenchay campus where we have invested in the latest facilities and resources to give both our staff and students access to everything they need to succeed.
