The Post

An excellent opportunity has arisen within the Directorate of Communications, Marketing and Recruitment to take up the post of Web Development Manager.

The Directorate plays a key role in supporting the delivery of the ambitious targets set out in the University’s Strategic Plan, with a focus on enhancing the University’s profile and global reputation for excellence in student experience, teaching, learning, and research with impact.

We are looking to appoint a Web Development Manager to maintain the University website, planning and implementing new technological developments and innovations, and enhancing the user experience, quality, and integrity of the site.

Reporting to the Head of Digital and Content, you’ll be a senior member of the digital marketing team and lead a team of web developers within a fast-paced environment. You are responsible for ensuring that the website is responsive, accessible, and provides an exceptional user experience.

Description of Duties

  • Lead on the development and implementation of the University’s web development roadmap for www.stir.ac.uk
  • Own the planning, organisation, and implementation of web development projects, ensuring that we consistently deliver innovative, user-focused solutions
  • Provide representation and input on projects related to resources and systems outwith the www.stir.ac.uk domain, which link with the broader marketing strategy
  • Line manage, support and motivate a small team of web developers ensuring they achieve as a high-performing unit
  • Act as product owner for the website Content Management System (CMS) and search platform, including management of supplier relationships and co-ordination of support

Essential Criteria

  • Degree or equivalent combined with substantial senior experience in a web development environment
  • Experience in leading, motivating, and managing teams
  • Demonstrable experience in project management
  • Ability to manage expectations and workload for short and long-term goals
  • Ability to think strategically and operationally, with a user centred approach
