About the Role
This position would suit an ambitious early career researcher with an interest in the application of complex bioinformatic analysis and machine learning to genomic medicine in the context of personalized medicine clinical trials.
The successful candidate will perform bioinformatic analysis of multi-omic data including bulk and single cell RNA-seq, genetic, epigenetic, proteomic, serological and CyTOF flow cytometric data from clinical trials within the Centre for Experimental Medicine & Rheumatology (EMR) to discover biomarkers for patient stratification.
About the Centre
The Centre for Experimental Medicine & Rheumatology (EMR) at the William Harvey Research Institute (WHRI), Barts and The London School of Medicine & Dentistry at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) opened in May 2007 and is led by Professor Costantino Pitzalis. In 2012 it was awarded the status of Arthritis Research UK Experimental Arthritis Treatment Centre and in 2023 it was awarded EULAR (European League against Rheumatism) Centre of Excellence. The Centre is focused on the development of innovative therapeutic and diagnostic approaches to inflammatory arthritis, particularly rheumatoid arthritis, and autoimmune diseases including Sjogren’s syndrome and SLE (systemic lupus erythematosus). The emphasis is on translational research by combining strengths and expertise of basic and clinician scientists working together. The appointed candidate in the role of Bioinformatician will be supervised by Professor Myles Lewis. They will work closely with the WHRI Centre for Translational Bioinformatics team led by Professor Michael Barnes.
