The Communications Assistant will work alongside colleagues (including another Communications Assistant) in the Information, Marketing and Communications (IMC) team within the University’s Undergraduate Admissions and Outreach (UAO) department on a wide range of communications tasks to attract and inform future students about Oxford University.
This position offers the opportunity to inspire potential undergraduate students to apply to Oxford University - from all backgrounds - but often focusing on those from under-represented backgrounds and who are without access to other support. As a result of empathetic and efficient communications, you will help them decide whether student life at Oxford might be for them. The Communications Assistant has particular responsibility for planning and managing the handling of enquiries from potential students as well as their families and teachers mainly via our Customer Relations Management system. There is increased responsibility during the annual October admissions round when you will be overseeing communications with current undergraduate applicants as well.
Another key area of responsibility will be for digital marketing and communications via our website and other channels. You will also be involved in communications for the University-wide Open Days (either virtual or in-person) as well as supporting the various outreach programmes which are managed by UAO. This will include close collaboration with colleagues across the collegiate University working in undergraduate admissions and outreach. The post-holder will promote the Open Days, outreach programmes and other resources via newsletters, digital channels and any supporting printed materials. Prior experience of the creation and distribution of digital media will be an advantage. Strong verbal and written communications skills are essential, as is a very high standard of written English. Some experience of stakeholder management would be an advantage.
