The Role
We are looking for someone who has experience of leadership roles in tertiary education, has worked with professional bodies and has established relationships with a wide range of conservation professionals, relevant specialists, and heritage organisations. Previous experience of teaching students from diverse, non-traditional, educational backgrounds; teaching at all levels from foundation through to postgraduate; and an understanding of the legislative and economic frameworks in which historic buildings survive and thrive, would be particularly welcome. If you are someone who can enthusiastically convey their passion for the physical and contextual aspects of the existing historic environment while developing a collaborative academic and technical team, this post is for you. This expertise should be a core part of the application.
A rounded candidate: capable of managing, developing, and expanding the undergraduate provision with an innate ability to work in tandem with colleagues and in empathy with a range of students from diverse backgrounds. You should be as comfortable teaching in a studio, classroom, workshop, lecture theatre, or on a site visit.
The Person
Our undergraduate and postgraduate Historic Building Conservation programmes develop exploration around the pathology of the physical fabric, the analysis of historic buildings, and debates covering the philosophical aspects of conservation with the impact of governing frameworks and prevalent economic imperatives. This role is targeted at the philosophy and governance of the historic environment. At the same time we are looking for an individual with leadership qualities, who is committed to the conservation of historic buildings and desirous of enabling the department to revitalize the foundation degree, while contributing to the delivery of postgraduate modules.
You will be able to bring a unique skillset encompassing the ability to lead an academic team and provide critical engagement and reasoning to your teaching delivery and to:

This is a part-time (14.8 hours per week), permanent role with a starting salary of £17,274.80 (40% to £43,187) per annum.
