Due to an upcoming retirement, the Royal Veterinary College (RVC) is seeking to appoint a VAT Manager. The role-holder will have responsibility for VAT compliance and processes and will provide advice on all VAT matters impacting the RVC and its subsidiary entities. The role-holder will also have responsibility for ensuring compliance with off payroll working (IR35) regulations.
The successful candidate will have prior experience of providing VAT advice and managing VAT within a Higher Education or not-for-profit organisation, as well as a working knowledge of customs duties and import reliefs (as they apply to VAT). Experience of off-payroll working (IR35) regulations is desirable but not essential, as appropriate support and training will be provided. The role-holder will be expected to input to the RVC’s wider Tax Strategy and Risk Register.
The successful candidate will join a Finance team of roughly 20 staff and will report to the Director of Finance. Although the role does not have line management responsibilities, support will be provided by other Finance team members in the preparation and filing of VAT returns.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required as the role holder will be expected to work with colleagues at many levels across the organisation, including senior management and the governing body, as well as liaise with external parties.
We offer a generous reward package and benefits including:
