Aberdeen International Study Centre (ISC) is strategically situated right at the heart of the University of Aberdeen campus. Your role at ISC will involve instructing students in the Life Sciences and Pre-Med programs. These programs are meticulously crafted to equip international students with specialized knowledge and competencies, complemented by essential academic study skills and employability proficiencies. This preparation will enable them to excel as they transition into the second year of their undergraduate Life Sciences program or embark on their first year of the MBChB Medicine program.

ABOUT THE ROLE

  • Plan appropriate, effective and inclusive learning programmes through schemes of work that take into account the diversity of the cohort
  • Plan teaching sessions which accommodate individualised learning using a variety of resources, including digital learning
  • Apply the principles of learning and teaching to provide learning activities to meet curriculum requirements and the needs of all students
  • Select the relevant learning approaches and skill development to ensure students’ progress
  • Apply the theories and principles of assessment including initial, diagnostic, formative and summative assessment
  • Use a variety of methods to check learning in lessons (formative assessment)
  • Provide regular and timely feedback to students to enable them to improve their outcomes in order to achieve progression
  • Write summative assessments which appropriately measure the achievement of the learning outcomes of the programmes (including repeat assessments)
  • Prepare students for summative assessment through revision sessions and practice assessments
  • Engage in moderation of assessment materials and student work, including double marking, thorough and timely preparation of all relevant documentation for the external examiners, and participation in module assessment boards

ABOUT YOU

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Health Science / Psychology / Social Science or related field (essential)
  • A relevant teaching qualification (desirable)
  • Experience of teaching in the Higher or Further Education sectors or of Leaving Certificate (Hons)/A-level (essential)
  • Experience of working with international students (desirable)
