We are looking for 4 library assistants to join the Bodleian Old Library and Radcliffe Camera team. Our historic buildings house Humanities collections in English, History, Classics, Philosophy, Theology and Reference as well as the History Faculty Library and the Bodleian's Enquiry Desk.
As part of the team you will undertake a range of duties including welcoming readers and visitors to our reading rooms, and assisting them with enquiries about our collections, buildings and services. You will issue and return books using our library management system, Alma and support the book delivery service by acting as banksperson to guide the delivery van. Other duties include scanning, processing new books and participating in collections project work. This role involves lifting, carrying and shelving books, as well as pushing trolleys.
You will have excellent communication skills and an awareness of the importance of good customer care. You will be able to undertake a range of routine tasks with care and accuracy, and have strong IT and teamwork skills.
These are permanent, full time posts, working 36.5 hours a week.
