We are looking to appoint a logical and meticulous individual who will enjoy working with rich, wide-ranging data sources to the role of Data Administrator.
You will be part of the embedded research unit that sits within the Admissions and Data Services team in Student Admissions and Access and is responsible for providing and supporting research relating to admissions, outreach and the later stages of the student life-cycle. The research conducted uses data from a wide variety of internal and external sources (including the Cambridge Colleges and departments, UCAS, HESA and the Department for Education), and the research unit relies on the Data Administrator to prepare and present this data.
Your role will be to source, cleanse, collate and utilise this data. This will include redeveloping the unit's core internal research dataset, and maintaining and managing existing datasets. You will also work alongside the Research Analyst (Admissions) to use and present the data in an accessible form that can be presented in research reports or used for further analysis.
You will have strong IT-skills (particularly in databases, large datasets and spreadsheets) and a proven ability to pick up new skills and software. You will work carefully and methodically, have excellent attention to detail, and take pride in the accuracy and reliability of your work output.
You will take an interest in both the data that you are preparing and its context in the wider education and Higher Education sectors. You will be adept at troubleshooting and problem-solving data issues. You will have excellent communication skills, particularly in explaining data-related issues and preparation methods.
