Library, Careers and Inclusivity (LCI) brings together Library Services, Careers and Enterprise, and Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity to deliver outstanding outcomes for all of our students in partnership with Faculties and other Services. Our work impacts student recruitment and retention, academic success, student satisfaction and graduate destination outcomes.

We aim to:

  • Ensure learners have high satisfaction levels in the area of independent access to, and use of, information.
  • Facilitate high quality research and maximise the global impact of UWE research.
  • Set a whole institution approach to inclusivity, profiling UWE as an inclusive university that places the mental wealth of students and staff as a strategic priority.

About the vacancy: This role is based in the library’s Collections team, with responsibility for managing a team of support staff working in the Digitisation and Document Delivery section. You will be working to provide digitised copies of course readings to students through UWE’s reading list system, as well as managing a busy inter-library loan service, and converting texts into alternative formats for students with disabilities. As Collections Support Librarian, you will be involved in a number of varied and fast moving projects to support the delivery of core content to students, academic staff and researchers.

This role is perfect for qualified librarians who want to immerse themselves in a busy and dynamic team, working to provide innovative solutions in the changing world of academic librarianship. You will have the opportunity to deliver process improvement projects, supervise staff, and develop and deliver briefings and training to staff on a variety of topics.

In Library, Careers and Inclusivity we expect everyone to spend more of their time working from our campuses than remotely. In this role you can expect to be campus based for a minimum of 60% of your time with the opportunity for hybrid working the remainder of the time as agreed with your line manager in line with our business needs.

About you:

To be successful in this post you will:

  • Have excellent IT skills and understanding
  • Be self-motivated, reliably delivering work to agreed timeframes
  • Take a flexible and adaptable approach to working in a changing library and University environment

You will have, or be working towards, a professional qualification in a library/information related subject via a CILIP approved route. We are committed to fully supporting our staff in their continuing professional development.

Where is this role based?

This post is based at our lively Frenchay campus.

In addition to progressive pay rates, we offer a wide range of employee benefits including:

  • a generous holiday allowance of 25 days pro rata
  • up to 12.5 bank holiday/closure days per year
  • hybrid working
  • career average pension schemes available for all staff groups
